Classy Cracknel Causes Chaos!! Hemsworth Hotspur went into this match knowing that 3 points could put them top of the table. Manager Steve Wiggins had rung the changes, dropping Dave Pickard and Wayne Harratt opting instead for Tony Kelly and Andy Davies. The switch looked to have paid off for the Hotspur boys in the 9th minute when Hotspur Starlet Craig Lazemby threaded a delicious through ball to Cracknel, who powered the ball in off the bar to give Hotspur a deserved lead. It didn't take much longer for Cracknel to earn the Back to Corra squad a half time ear-bashing from their irate manger, when he menacingly danced and weaved his way through 2 defenders and cannoned another rocket beyond the despairing dive of the Corra keeper to make the score 2-0. Half tame came, with Craig Lazenby adding further justification for an international call up with another majestic performance in front of the back two. Hotspur started the 2nd half strong, with Tony Kelly also outstanding on his club debut, coming within a hair's breadth of scoring on several occasions. But it wasn't until the 30th minute that midfield maestro Cracknel completed his devastating treble with a low drive into the bottom corner after a delightful square ball from Davies, taking his tally for the season to 5 Final Score Hotspurs 3-0 Back to Corra After the match Hotspurs chairman Dave Wiggins commented "The club has gone from strength to strength, but we all can take a leaf out of Cracknel's book, he is the heart and soul of this club, a firm favourite with players and fan's alike. He is truly a footballing god!!!" Hotspurs currently sit on the top spot, 1 point above G&D Hairstyles and Kinsley Hotel who drew 1-1 in a heated match |
